Principal Consulting and Investigations (PCI), LLC, was proudly formed in the Summer of 2023. Our company's founders, Ed Schroder and Brian Matchett, have a combined 58 years of law enforcement experience with the San Jose Police Department. Their experience encompasses all facets of police department operations, investigations, administration and management. Ed recently retired as a Deputy Chief after a distinguished, 30-year career, during which time he worked as a Detective Sergeant in the Internal Affairs Unit. As a command officer, he continued to investigate and manage complex administrative investigations. Brian is currently the Department's Special Operations Captain and has previously held assignments in the Criminal Investigative Division of the Internal Affairs Unit, as well as a multi-year assignment as the Internal Affairs Unit Commander. Brian has also taught "Internal Affairs Investigations" to hundreds of sworn officers from all over the United States.

At its core, PCI focuses on employee-related internal investigations. We specialize in administrative cases arising from community-based complaints and department-initiated investigations. In addition to investigating conduct complaints and policy violations, our expertise includes comprehensive familiarity with the administrative analysis of officer-involved shootings, in-custody deaths, and use-of-force investigations.
